Hey there! I’m Ali.

Wife to Tommy, and mama to a bonus daughter and whole bunch of littles (we had 4 in 4.5 years, we weren’t messing around! 😜) We are blessed to live on a beautiful piece of land in Southern Maryland that we are slowly but surely turning into a sustainable homestead. I love all things earthy, nature and fresh air. If I am home I am probably sitting barefoot outside soaking up the sunshine while watching, and often helping, my kids make mudpies and play “crystal shop”. I love fitness and nutrition, and believe in taking care of our bodies from the inside out. I’m captivated by the always shifting balance of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. I am continuously seeking out wisdom on how to keep these in balance (for myself and my clients!) through mentors, fellow birth workers, trainings, courses, reading and more!

My Birthing Journey

from high-risk hospital care to homebirths…

It was 2014 when my own birthing journey began. Baby #1 started out as a “high risk” pregnancy due to a pre-existing condition I have. I was referred to the OB dept at Johns Hopkins University and it only took 3 or so visits for me and my husband to realize this was not the birth experience we were meant to have, so we started our research. And research we did… Fast forward 4.5 years and we had journeyed through one medicated hospital birth, to one unmedicated hospital birth, to one easy zen homebirth, to one mentally & physically challenging homebirth (hello 12lbs 2oz baby!). So yes, 4 babies in 4.5 years. It was like a crash course into Birth World 101! And I loved every single moment of it. Prenatal appointments, pregnancy cravings, doula meetings, nursing group, baby wearing meetings, and oh yeah, BIRTH. Each birth experience transformed me. I learned so much about myself, my relationships with others, my views on the world. With the support and guidance of my chosen birth teams, I stepped into my power as a woman, felt more deeply connected spiritually than I ever had, and I found my voice in life. From out of my own birthing experiences came the intense desire to walk beside other birthing families on their journeys. I would be absolutely honored to be a part of your birth team!
